That’s using your head. Not a phrase you hear on a regular basis in Tyrone, but local officials and wind farm proponents are hoping residents do just that to augment the power produced by a proposed wind farm.
Residents will be required to wear “cranial wind-energy catching units,” also called CWECs, to add to power created by nearby wind farms.
“Human beings have been silly about the environment and now it’s time they look a little silly for the environment,” Willow Fawn, a member of Propeller Beanies for Peace and a Free Palestine, an advocacy group for wind power, said while puffing on corn silk. “We’re asking that residents wear them to help out.”
Actually, according to borough officials, residents may not have the option.
“I think wearing the beanies are required in our lease agreement,” said a borough rep. “But you have your choice of rainbow-colored or basic pink with a company logo on it. It’s all about choice, you know.”
The energy-producing beanies have twin propeller blades that are attached to a generator affixed to the back of the cap, a wire then stretches to a battery unit which can then be fed into the grid.
Unlike, the 400-foot behemoths expected to decorate the ridge’s above town the CWEC units do not kill birds, unless they fly really low.

Shouldn’t that be a picture of Bill **** wearing one of those beanies?
Or don’t they make them big enough to fit his head?

So are we going to offer people a royalty for what power they produce from their CWEC’s or are we going to pocket that also?
