Murtha stands by “Reverse Surge” strategy.

John Murtha (D-Jenny Craig), congressman and leading war critic, believes America has lost its will to quit. Following a string of victories in Iraq and the recent string of deaths of Al Qaeda’s number 3 men, America’s military is showing no signs of buckling and running like scared French school girls, as Murtha had proposed.

“Backing out on promises is one thing America has historically stood for,” Sandy Longenstein, a Murtha aide said. “It pains him to see this trend of cutting and running being left on the trash heap of history.”

Murtha was well aware of how political quitting at home can help the military quit abroad. Murtha helped America lose Vietnam as a Marine and expected to give the troops the same kind of lack of support that he received in Nam from Democratic politicians.

“The America of the past, the country that we love was a nation of principles,” Longenstein said. “We once knew that when the going gets tough, the politicians get going… in the other direction. Now, I don’t know what has become of that nation.”

Donny Velfmun, a longtime Murtha supporter and Johnstown barfly, said he shares the congressman’s shame of the country for not doing enough to lose the war. Velfmun blames Al Qaeda’s lack of cooperation. “But, don’t you blame the congressman, he gave them all the moral support he could and then they turned around and got blowed up.”
