Lottery winner to donate funds to Charity, his favorite stripper.
While representatives from the state lottery commission are still maintaining their silence, neighbors of Barnaby Schwek, of Warriors Mark, are saying it’s obvious: he won the lottery.
According to Marjie Cicello, who’s lived next to Schwek’s sprawling half-acre farmette for 15 years, she grew suspicious when she saw that he welded two carports together and bought a stretch limousine with Confederate flags streaming from the antenna.
Neighbors say this is odd because, besides the money he makes from selling glass jars at a local flea market and the occasional dimes that children throw at him because they think he’s homeless, Schwek has no means of support.
“He can’t afford no two carports that’s for certain,” Cicello said. “And he continues to purchase lawn art at an alarming rate.”
There have been some other clues. Schwek has married and divorced two exotic dancers in the past week. He bought a gold banjo with ivory inlays that he plays on his porch each evening and has also made offers to purchase every bar in Blair and Centre counties.
A stream of second and third cousins have gone in and out of the trailer, leaving in their wake beer cans, articles of clothing and underage drinking citations.
Susanne B. Manthony, who wrote a book on the effects of the lottery on rural poor called, “Rich Hillbilly, Broke Hillbilly,” said these are symptoms of sudden wealth syndrome, or SWS.
“Look, if he’s buying strippers and bars, and his name isn’t Jed Clampett, he won the lottery,” Manthony said. “In five weeks, he will be broke. He might as well put a for sale ad in the paper for an extended car port now.”
