State College Voters Demand to be Super-Dooper Delegates

State College Super Dooper Delegate

Look up in the sky! A bird? A plane? No. It’s the nose of someone from State College.

A new wrinkle has appeared on the dried politcal prune called the 2008 Pennsylvania primary. State College delegates are no longer happy being referred to as “super delegates,” they are asking party leaders to call them “Super-Dooper Delegates.”

Linda Wolf-Castle, a delegate for the Democratic party, is offended by party officials characterizing her as a mere “super delegate.” She also thinks that “super delegate” is mildly sexist, bringing to mind the late Rick James’ Super Freak.

“I am asking our party leadership to refer to State College representatives to the party convention as Super-Dooper delegates,” Wolf-Castle said. “It’s really the only term that can adequately describe the munificence of being from the Paris of Pennsylvania, State College.”

Innis Baltering, a Republican delegate, was unconcerned about the super delegate designation until he learned that a delegate from Philipsburg was being classified as a “delegate.”

“I know we’re both voting for McCain, but we all know that someone from Philipsburg can not be super, if someone from State College is not,” Baltering said. “This is the first time I will reach across the aisle to our friends in the Democratic party and say, yes, a super-dooper delegate classification is the only way to go.”

Baltering said that most people from State College–Democrat, Republican, or Independent–think that anyone from surrounding communities is a sub-delegate anyway.

How would you describe a delegate from Tyrone? Wait, please don’t answer that.

Tyroids are too bitter and too busy polishing their guns to vote.

Damn straight! I’m tired of being lumped in with the other shlubs from around the county. I’m better than that!
