Habitat for Poultry to collect roostless chickens of 2008 campaign. 

As the feathers continue to fly in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary, candidate Barack Obama and his supporters still find time to help out with a project to help find coops for the roost-less chickens freed during the 2008 campaign.

“I’m just a farm boy,” said Obama supporter Malcolm Tex. “But we all know that at some point in time the chickens need to come home to roost.”

Tex said Habitat for Poultry, one of Obama’s pet projects, can help these wayward fowl. The senator first became familiar with the roost-less chicken problem from his association with Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

One of the first chickens that Obama would house was a little New England clucker named “R.F.K.” He was formerly owned by Bill and Hillary Clinton, of Arkansas, New York, and lately Kentucky and West Virginia.

According to Tex, R.F.K. flew the coop while the Clintons were campaigning and headed to California where he joined legions of homeless chickens, mostly in Berkely. Later, the Clintons brought up R.F.K in a news conference, stating that maybe a certain candidate would make it out of California, maybe he wouldn’t.

“We all get a little careless now and then when these candidates out campaigning,” said Tex. “And accidentally say what they really feel.”

Marjorie A. Kawalfalson, a campaign worker for the Clinton campaign, said that Hillary meant nothing by the statement. “She rarely says anything meaningful and she certainly would never impugn the plight of co0p-less chickens,” Kawafalson said. “In fact, she promises a chicken in every coop and gas in every SUV.”
