Poltergeist Native American Haunted House Sits on Yuppie Graveyard

Ghostly appearances may be tied to cursed Caucasian shopping ground.

Scott and Mary Nighthorse, a Native American couple who moved to State College last year, bought their quaint ranch house for a bargain-basement price. They're now finding that the hidden cost may have been an encounter with the supernatural.

Several frightening and inexplicable events witnessed by the Nighthorse family, including the sighting of two ghosts in matching sweaters, convinced them that their house was haunted.

"The two ghosts--a man and a woman--looked angry," said Scott. "Well, more like slightly miffed."

Nighthorse called in a group of paranormal researchers who discovered that the couple's home sits on an ancient graveyard for upper-middle class Caucasians.

Kurt Yoder, lead investigator for the team, said the home sits directly over an old shopping mall that included a Gap store and Starbucks.

"That would explain some of the phenomena," said Yoder. "Scott said that his cup of instant coffee was thrown across the dining room and, obviously, the spirits of suburban professionals would be offended that such a product was being used in territory that they claimed as their own."

Yoder added that the spirits would feel any encroachment may be disrespectful.

"This is their sacred space," added Yoder ominously. "A space for shopping."

A medium was called in to attempt to contact the dispossessed spirits.

"We were unsuccessful," said Yoder. "The spirits were unwilling to talk with anyone that wasn't of their own socio-economic class."

The couple said their next step would be to call in a Caucasian shaman of some sort, who could exorcise the spirits.

"We want them to move on to the light," said Wahaneebe Honkee, a Caucasian spirit seeker. "We just have to convince them that there might be improved shopping involved in the other side."
